VIDEO - Appalachian Misadventure - 3 Part series hiking the Appalachian Trail

Last weekend My Dad, 2 friends (Scott and Clence), and myself took to the AT to try and get closer to finishing the Georgia section. Long story short things didn't go exactly as planned. I'll share each of the three videos (a Pre Hike Vlog, a Trip Video and a Post Hike Vlog) here as I get them uploaded on my YouTube channel. Enjoy, and thanks for watching!

Really hope you got as far as you planned, and I hope it was a memorable experience. Hahaha! Can't wait to see the rest, good or bad.

I figured she would dump you out when she said "Alabama"
Remember--Some People are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Some people can paint the Sistine chapel, some people can finger-paint, and some people just eat the Crayons....

Well, it was definitely memorable. I won't ruin the next video for you tho.

You know, in retrospect, it is a little surprising she didn't. She sounded real shocked. lol.

The next part in the Appalachian Misadventure series is up on the channel. I appreciate all the feedback. This one was very different to edit than my other trips. Hope it comes across right.

Hey Chris I'm really glad everything worked out and y'all all made it out safely. Sorry to hear about your friend's troubles- sounds like it got pretty hairy there that second night.

Good thing you've been conditioning! Think if you hadn't been and tried to carry your AND his pack- whew!

We've done that a couple times- overestimated our ability and underestimated the trail but we've been lucky so far.

We plan on day hiking the same section next week while Cathy is on winter break, but we'll split it up a little differently I think. SOBO from Addis Gap to Unicoi gap one day, about 12 miles, SOBO from Blue Ridge gap to Addis, about 12 miles another day, and then hike to the border and back from Blue Ridge gap the last day, completing the GA section of the AT.

Nice job putting the video together, looking forward to the finale!

You're probably right about the conditioning. I am glad that everything worked out. We said a lot of prayers on that trip. We were very blessed to get off the trail in as good of shape as we did. I hope you have a jeep or something if you are going up Charlies Creek road to Blue Ridge gap. It wasn't in the best of shape. Nowhere near as good as someone touted it on the white blaze last summer. They must've had a bunch of rain up there. It's not super bad, but I am surprised I got my 2wd Sorento up there and back down. Hind sight being 20/20 and all. I do have a video of us going up that road in the last video though.

Did you approach the AT from the East or the West on Charlie's Creek Rd? The map shows it is accessible from both directions but I know how that goes. Funny I was going to ask the same thing on Whiteblaze. Maybe someone else has used it more recently there as well.

I don't have a 4wd vehicle or even a PU truck or SUV. One car is an 08 Sebring and the other is a 98 Sable lol. I have gotten them in some places I probably had no business trying, but I'm sorta dumb that way =)
