No one in my family understands the hammocking life that I have grown to love, except my wife, at least I have her on my side. Close friends and family have asked for a list of gift ideas for me but all I can think of is gear I want to try out. The problem is when I tell them "I've had my eye on dutch's new Sidesling, ooo and a pair of titanium dutchclips since I lost one packing up my hammock on the last trip, or 4 yards of the xenon wide because I want to try my hand at making a new tarp" I just get a laugh from them like I'm crazy. I'M NOT CRAZY!
The issue is that I don't like telling them that I would rather money so I can get the oddities from the small vendors because I know they want to get me the actual object but the things I actually want are either so specific it's a weird thing to ask for (ha, 4 yards of fabric), or so expensive that I feel like a burden to even bring it up. I wish that I could send a wishlist to them that they could then buy off of that way we both get what we want.
what do y'all think. Am I being to pedantic?
