Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to take a little time and do a short review on my Ghost Pepper. Before I get into the review, here are the stats for my Quilt;
0° Ghost Pepper
Regular length/ Straight taper/insulated footbox
17ounces Hyperdry goose down (2 ounces overfill)
Morracan blue/charcoal grey Membrane 10 fabric
23.1 ounces
I'm sort of a ounces counter kind of guy, but also a slightly cold sleeper. So when I decided to look for a winter quilt, I was looking for the most warmth for weight I could find. So I decided to contact George and ask if we could possible use the Membrane 10 fabric for my quilt. George said this would not be a problem at all, and I placed my order.
Upon the quilt arriving , the first thing I noticed was how well it was made. All the stiching was flawless and the attentions to detail was obvious. The next thing I did was of course weigh it. It came out to be 23.1 ounces which is what George posted as the weight on his Facebook page. I was so happy with the weight of the quilt ( almost 3/4 of the weight is down!)now to see if it would keep me warm.
I took it out for five nights this winter( didn't get that cold this year in Ohio), with lows from 4° to 15°. It performed great. Each night I wore a Smartwool mid weight top and a light weight pair of down pants, and I never got cold. The chevron baffles are great at holding the down in place, while the insulated foot box did a great job of keeping my feet warm as well
Last but definately not least, I just want to say how great George is to work with. From ordering custom fabric for me to updating me on the progress in regards to the lead time on my quilt, George is truly top notch.
Keep making great quilts George!
* Quick note, the picture with the ruler, I took more for a side view and not for accuracy, as the ground was not level. Laying flat on my living room floor the loft is about 3.75 inches*
