    Anyone from Nova Scotia

I am looking at going up to Nova Scotia for a week long vacation in Oct. This isn't a camping trip but a sightseeing trip. I have plans to drive the Cabot Trail, check out the fishing villages. lighthouses and eat my fill of lobster and seafood
I have heard that Oct is the top tourist season for NS and that I should make reservations. Can anyone confirm this and does it only apply to the Cape Breton part of NS or all of NS

Josh Slocum first guy to sail around the world solo (1890s) is from Nova Scotia and I think Windsor in Nova Scotia is supposed to be the birthplace of hockey.

I was told July is the big tourist season. I won't wait until the last minute though. Oh and there are 2 seasons in Canada. Winter and July.

Bugs should be gone by October. I can't vouch for the weather at that time of year, other than that it can change quickly. If you do the Cabot Trail, take a quick detour on your way back to the mainland to see Marble Mountain, on the southwestern shore of Bras D'or. I can't think of a more beautiful spot than that.

My only real experience with being that far north was inland. The maritimes can be very different. It will be quite chilly at night but the days should be very comfortable (50-60* F) I would guess. I am not sure about the tourist season. I can tell you that inland Maine around that time the tourist season is past its height but the maritimes have a different climate. Katahdan closes something like Oct 15 so the weather could be quite variable. Nova Scotia is a lovely place but the ocean is cruel mistress. I would not expect the beaches to be open except for the polar bear clubs.

I had a on-line friend I have not talked to in years who ran a seasonal nautical themed gift shop in NS. Seems to me she closed shop by mid September but I don't remember for sure.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

the only time I can go is Sept/Oct 2009 or April/May 2010. I was told Sept is hurricane season, April and May is the rainy season and Oct was the fall color season. I did order a tourism catalog but still waiting on it
