VIDEO: Fall In The Adirondack Mountains - Ultralight Backpacking / Hammock Style

Come along with me and spend 3 days, 2 nights in the 5 Ponds Wilderness Area of the Adirondacks. The weather was perfect, 70's and sunny with lows in the mid 40's and the leaves were at peak color. The view atop Cat Mountain took my breath away!

This is the first trip where I have been ultralight (sub 10 pound base weight) coming in at 9.8 pounds. We check out a few pieces of gear; a custom cuben tarp from HammockGear, a 1.6 argon hammock from DutchWareGear and a backpack from ZPacks, the Zero.

Rather than putting this up in separate parts I decided to edit the entire video in one shot (it would have been 4 parts at about 14 minutes each) - let me know your preference for the next trip report.

Also, I bring along my harmonica for the first time on a trip and play a little blues from time to time, Hammock Hanger Blues. Thanks for watching!

Fantastic! Your best video yet. I need to get back to the five ponds again soon. So many places, so little time. See you this weekend.

Great video man, I loved it! Looks like an amazing trip, and I really like the way you shoot, narrate an edit your video. Also I don't mind it being cut all in one video, if you had broken it up into segments I would have watched them anyways. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing, and like others have said, I enjoyed watching. I'll admit to liking the smaller length videos strictly because it makes it easier for me to watch them when it's convenient for me to squeeze them in. Sitting in one spell to watch an hour(ish) long video is very difficult for me, and I don't like having to reload and find my spot again. Of course, I do that when I have to, so just do what you'd like for the lengths! LOL

I do have one complaint; why didn't you at least give us a glimpse of the person who weirded you out? I kid, I kid - sort of....

DUDE - Great video!!! That's a beautiful area and you hit it just at the right time! Congrats on going UL. Can't say I've been there, but I'm lookin that way ...

Well, I gotta get some sleep. I'm now 55:29 minutes late for bed, thanks Rob.

Looks like a bowl of Fruit Loops up there the colors are so vivid.
Way to go on a light pack. Always nice to do especially when the temps are just right.
At least with a long video the comments are easier to reply to.
Getting out there myself this weekend! Movie time.

Never had my 6th sense kick in - it sure did about halfway through a PB&J wrap though - choked it down and got out of town

I don't believe every trip will be UL but it is nice to have confidence that I can do it. Hopefully getting up this morning wasn't too bad Thanks for coming along.
