Been studying the forums and I think I've found my suspension

I've spent many hours internet researching suspension methods (mostly this site) and I have settled on what I plan to do. As much as I enjoy seeing options and researching, there is a good feeling about deciding on a method and moving forward.

    - 1" webbing (loop on one end) with other end pulled around tree and thru loop and hooked to hammock via descender rings on end of hammock cord using Garda hitch

    - utilize shlabbo's improvement here http://https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?32088-improvement-on-decending-ring-buckle-system&p=456364#post456364 except instead of grommet and cord, I'll tie a loose figure eight of something around/through the ring, just to hold any slack and provide some backup

    - will keep a ridge line permanently attached to tarp with D rings on each end that are both connected to the loops on the end of the tarp and to each end of the ridge line but only extending out on ends like rings on hammock, then use some 3/8 webbing with loop like on my hammock suspension to fasten and adjust tarp on each end. (Garda hitch again)

Weight won't be as light as cord but should be simple and quick to setup and adjust. When I get in my supplies I'll set up and take a pic, but seems like it should work fine.

Thanks to all who have contributed on the board providing many ideas and hours of interesting reading.

It's fun to brainstorm and make a suspension that meets your specifications.

I am under the impression the garda hitch works best with ropes or cordage. You might want to consider a cinch buckle modification or using two descender rings with webbing.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

For my truck set up I use a marlin spike hitch with a 7/8" mule tape suspension, running to carbineers. The carabineer is the spike.

My UL suspension is 7/64" Amsteel running to a Dutch Biner with an overhand knot. A trail stick jams the bite.

My winter set up is a Warbonnet strap and buckle system. It adjusts well in cold weather, as should strap and descender rings.

I like descending rings except you can't clip gear into them like a carbineer.

    Dutch Biners hold 1000 pounds.

I've been working on a far simpler solution for the cinch buckle/strap system. Waiting on the parts from Dutchware to make it. Will post it up if I don't kill myself on the first hang.
