    UL UQ Protector

We've had rain here to fill up our lakes YAY! and I slept out in it for several days to test my UL gear, which worked great except ...

The bottom of my UQ got splashed because the minimalist tarp just could not guy out enough (I've ordered new lines to fix that problem somewhat).

But in response to another thread, which has disappeared, I went ahead with a polycro UQ protector.

It's 48x64 inches, uses bank line over the SRL for suspension, and weighs 1.7 ounces:

My hunch is, 2, that, yes, it might if pulled up too tight to the UQ.

    Good idea; two questions:

    1. What would be the advantage of bank line versus dynema or zing-it?
    2. Why the long length of line across the ends, instead of separate tie-outs at each corner?

    Thanks, Gravity.

    1. The bank line is extremely light.
    2. I just grabbed a couple of lengths of it lying there. But separate lines to each corner, now that you mention it, would make the system more flexible relative to the direction of wind and rain. Thanks!!!

The UL hammock is 9 feet long.

Each polycro peak beak extends 30" toward the interior and the UQ protector is just over 5 feet. That means the polycro overlaps by over 6" at each juncture. That's some pretty good weather protection for not much weight.
