    Reptilian dermal layer tricks/usage

So I just made myself some snakey things for my DIY gathered-end hammock. Do you guys usually have your structural ridgeline inside the skins or out? When I put the skins on the outside, I get this:

On a slightly related note (I was putting the RL inside so that it would stay put better), what ideas do you guys have for streamlining my suspension? I'd like to have the whoopie slings semi-permanently attached to the hammock, so I don't have to wrap them up separately to keep them from getting unruly.
    Here's what I'm doing currently.

the green is 7mm line with a double sheet bend to the hammock, and a washer with an Ashley stopper knot on top.

    Thanks in advance,
    Acer

You might want to make the reptilian dermal layers a tad longer and just stuff the beastie in. I use them on my HH and there is a neat way of rolling the hammock up to go inside the skins. But it kind of requires the bug net unless you roll the tarp up in the same roll. I'm not sure who posted the pics of that roll package but it's here somewhere. I'm sure someone can find it faster than me.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Well duh, forgot about the bugnet. I think I've seen the picture series you're referring to. Guess I'll head downstairs and get sewi..err, injecting. Got some Wally World $.25/yd mesh fabric that looks like it'll do the job. :-D

I abandoned the doubled snake skins long ago.

I always ended up with a huge balloon in the middle and getting it inside was the hardest part of using the skins. Using the doubled skins on a tarp was even worse than on the Hennessy Hammock.

Instead I use a single skin end to end. Start on one end and keep going till I get to the other end.

It's really a tube instead of a skin.

No balloon in the middle and only one skin/tube to bother with.

Of course, if you use a Bishop Bag you don't have to bother anyway. Some people swear by their Bishop Bag.
Those who sacrifice freedom for safety, have neither.

That washer / stopper knot combo is pretty nifty!

I second that. Really very clever. I've not seen anyone do that yet.
