    New hanger and diy'er.

Hi everybody. I've just turned 66 and newly retired from full time fretted instrument repair. I been a forum member for a few months and finally just wanted to say hi. Great group, great resource and I'm hoping to be able to contribute soon. Thanks to the forum's influence I've started making some of my own gear and I finally got my own thread injector, which is apparently becoming another obsession. I went from zero machines to having a 1956 singer 15-125 and now a 1962 500 rocketeer. I've bought product from DIY and Dutch and feel good about it. I started with a rolled hem on a tablecloth to make a few hammocks, thanks to Derek Hanson and various other members and I'm working on a tarp and hoping to do an underquilt soon. So, just wanted to say hi, and thanks for feeding a new obsession.

Welcome Rick! DIYing your gear is a satisfying affliction. Have fun and make sure you hit the trail for a few days to test everything new you make.

Welcome to the forums from Greenville, SC. I hope that you find a lot of information to fuel your new hobby. There is more information on here if you look for it than most people realize.

Welcome to the forums... I must refrain from any machine purchases myself... I know how they can quickly multiply and I just don't have the room. I am looking forward to seeing your galleries of all the cool stuff you will make. It is one thing to buy them, it is sooo much more satisfying when you make it yourself. I hope to one day join the DIYers, once I get some space to actually work. Apartment living doesn't really lend the space for the hobbyer I want to be.
