It does not....its the same as rain water. Just as long as the snow isn't yellow (hopefully we all know what that is) or pink (algae...which you don't really need to worry about in MN) you're good.

Well you can do what you want hikingdad. I've had cryptosporidium before and it's really not a lot of fun. If I make it back to MN and am able to attend I'll be bringing gallon jugs of water. It's fast, easy, and clean.

I'm not arguing bringing gallons of water for a large group like this if you're not by water. I was simply informing that eating/drinking snow is safe

I've never been sick from melting snow to drink....not to say it can't happen. I think the 'vintage' of the snow is pretty important. Newly fallen snow that is fluffy and white - I'll eat it right there on the spot. If it has been on the ground for a few weeks/months to collect dander and wind blown gunk.... then it becomes a judgement call and a matter of how much toilet paper you have with you.

Question Site Preparation and Set up

I've noticed that a few individuals have volunteered to help with site prep and set up on 1/14. I saw that Hillbilly Deluxe and VinneyGirl were planning on clearing and cutting some wood on site this month. Did this happen, and if so, is there a way for those of us arriving early to locate said wood stash? Just trying to figure out logistics for that first day.

Also, if you have not already done so, please be sure to add your name to the sign up list, and check out the group meals volunteer tab and the equipment tab. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...kms/edit#gid=0

Hoot and I are planning to head out of KC early Wednesday, 11/14 around 06:00 hours. Expect to be there around 14:00 to 16:00 hours. Anything I can do to assist?

Also, I cannot get the sign in sheet to open, believe it is my phone not cooprating. I am planning to bring a big roll of reflectex for my contribution on the equipment side. Any suggestions on what we will be lacking on food? Would be willing to contribute as well.

For a number of reasons I'm not going to be able to make it this year. Maybe next time. Looking forward to the trip reports!

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver
