I was wondering ... bankline is generally "tarred" (which I assume is some sort of petroleum product used to extend the life of the cord). You might have noticed the strong smell a fresh roll of bankline has... Anyway, will this treatment react in any way with silnylon? Will it somehow degrade or "eat through" the material?
Seems like this is at least a remote possibility and worth a post!
If it will then you can use a small continuous loop between your hammock and the line to protect both of them. If you have any doubts then it's certainly better to be safe than sorry.
I guess I was thinking more about when it all gets stuffed into the sack together ... and then sits on the shelf all winter :P
I've been using bankline guylines on a cheaper PU Tarp and it doesn't seem to do anything at all, so I doubt it would affect silnyon any differently, but you never know.
I'll report back later to see if anything actually happened
