True, so do I - Swedish summer nights are not exaclty known for their scorching heat.. Still, there's a feel to the fabric that I like much, much more in the 1.1 that even with a base layer on it makes me consider changing. Consider, mind you, it'd be a complete nitpicking and a luxury indulgence if I were to do it, so I'm still not sure if it's worth it. A lot of beers can be counted in the opportunity cost of that option!

Just checked the WB website, which lists the 1.7 fabric as "1.7oz/70D," so I'm guessing the two fabrics are similar.

So I weigh 235....as this info perplexes and worries me...should I order a double 1.1 or double 1.7 in an XLC? I'm also 6'3" if that matters.

If you want to go as light as possible then the 1.1 is obviously the choice. I am 185 lbs and 6' tall. I have never had a problem with the durability of 1.1. I have been in 1.1 single layer hammocks almost exclusively (slept in my 1.7 XLC SL for one night).

To give you an idea of what is possible: I currently own two WBBB 1.1 SLs and the lightest of the two comes in at 16 and 1/4 oz with suspension (Prof Grizz Hardware Free... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sUfGqudl_8 ]...using Dynaglide whoopies and mule tape) and cuben stuff sack from Z-Packs.

I really like the feel of 1.1. Not sure I feel any appreciable difference between the two in terms of comfort...

I'm around 6ft and 175lb's, I have the RidgeRunner in 1.1 single layer. pretty comfy so far, tho it's not dead flat. If I was any heavier I'd want a thicker material

I was facing a similar dilemma and decided to get a BB with a 1.1 inner / 1.7 outer. It cost a bit more, but I'm thinking (hoping) it'll be durable, lie flat, feel nice inside, and accommodate a pad. It'll be here soon and I'm planning to post an update after I try it out.

For weight comparison, my setup with whoopies should weigh about what a 1.1DL weighs with straps.

I just got an XLC with 1.7 and it feels super. My old Blackbird is 1.1 and is a wee stretchy. I weigh about 190.

I have been asking myself a similar question. 1.1 DL or 1.7 SL????? I use an UQ, so would the double layer simply be acting as more stability (flatter lie) and a mosquito barrier?

Also, the DL 1.1 will pack down less as well I am assuming...
