Great stuff gunner! One thing that I would add; amsteel is super slippery, and people say that it isn't recommended to use knots in it for any kind of load bearing application. It may be overkill, but (especially with your back/neck issues) IMO it is better safe than sorry. So rather than a double (or even triple) fisherman's for the loops, I would very much recommend a spliced continuous loop.

Here is a link to Opie's pictorial, which should get you there. He uses a piece of bent wire, but I much prefer a Dritz "loop turner" for splicing my 7/64.

    Very nice job sir.

Good looking hammock and nice tag

    Nice looking hammock.
Thanks, always enjoy building a new hammock and seeing how comfortable ( or not sometimes ) it is

amsteel is super slippery, and people say that it isn't recommended to use knots
While I agree Amsteel is slippery I find that the fisherman's knot I use has not failed yet and I have made about 30 DIY hammocks now using this system. Also I find that as I am getting older and the old Mark 1 eyeballs are not as good as they use to be, trying to splice something this size is more trouble than it is worth. I use to make custom water ski lines at a marina in Hawaii I worked at so I know how to splice line, it just the smaller size that gives me trouble these days.

Still worth repeating for new comers who do not realize that most knots will not work very well with Amsteel.

    Nice job, gunner.
thanks...just waiting for the skeeters to leave so I can take it back out for a loner test hang. I don't look good when I am furry from being covered by skeeters. We have salt water skeeters here and when they bite, it hurts.

Haha. I don't know why I assumed you might not be able to splice a loop, sorry. If you like, I'll mail you a few by way of apology
