Take a look at this noob's intro!!!

Hello There, I wanted to introduce myself since I am brand new to your forum group. I'm a guy that has been backpacking for a few decades in the lightweight category. I am a certified Leave No Trace trainer, as well as a Wilderness First Responder. What weighs my system down (professional 1st aid kit) I make up for by taking my time exploring the wilderness around me. I primarily bp in West Virginia, Virginia, and Western Maryland. I am a bonified Hill-Person. The foothills of the Appalachian Mountains have been my home. Life has brought me to Baltimore City for a spell, but am working my way back to greener pastures. I have a site dedicated to trip reports, gear reviews, and more... not plugging that information now. I AM A HAMMOCK CAMPING NOOOOOB!

As the summer winds down, here's what I am beginning my transition with:

    -Hennessey Hammock Deep Jungle
    -HH Double Bubble Pad
    -1 1/2" Tree-Huggers
    -HH large Hex Fly

    -Rab 20°F Down Bag
    -GoLite Adrenaline 0°F Down Bag
    -REI 45°F Down Summer Bag
    -Sea To Summit Bag Liner
    -Thermarest Trail Pro
    -Blue Pad

Lots to learn, kinda like being a kid again. I hope to learn a lot from you folks, looks like a great site here...

    Sláinte!

    Welcome from MD!

City life sucks. You have my sympathies there.

Hope you get out soon. Happy hanging!

Welcome from Garner, N.C. I jumped in with a HH Deep Jungle having zero knowledge a little over 2 years ago and it has served me well. You may try other hammocks in time and add more tarps but you are in great shape as is.

Thanks folks! I am pretty humble about how much there is to learn, but have an idea of what can be gained...

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. There are plenty of group hangs in your area - a group hang can really accelerate the learning curve. The Fall MAHHA is coming up right near you.

Welcome from the NW/Oregon and Washington State. Long time playing in the wild areas.

Converted to Hammocks a few years ago.

Just a few words of warning, "Collecting Gear" is a problem for many of us. So many cool things to choose from and new ideas being added almost daily. Heaven help you if you lean toward DIY. LOL

Welcome from SC. I second the advice to attend a group hang.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
