Klymit Static V Lux Inflatable Sleeping Pad

Anyone use this pad with their hammock? I think the extra width and the price are worth considering.

A little information from the manufacturer:

Largest and most comfortable inflatable pad.
3 inch thick, 30 Inch wide and 76 Inch long
Thicker V chambers further limits air movement and air loss
    Weighs 25 oz.

I have the V lux and it is big, works pretty well in my DIY hammock when inflated to half capacity. Way too much pad for my DL hammocks but the static V insulated fits into the DL and actually feel pretty good while adding a bit of warmth. The packed size is pretty close for the Static V and V Lux.

I've used the Static V Luxe in my Blackbird XLC. It is big enough to provide shoulder coverage. Like xrayit said, getting the pressure right is a big deal, even when using the pad on the ground. EEK! In the hammock, the pad stays in place well. You can add drops of seam grip to make little grippy spots on the pad to hold in place if needed. The pad is so big that it totally fills my 1 man tent. No chance of rolling off of it. In the hammock, when the temps got into the 40's, I got a bit of a chill underneath. I guess that is to be expected because the pad is un-insulated. Klymit just came out with an insulated version of the Luxe. The weight is a bit over 2 lb for that one tho.

I just noticed the site has an insulated version too! I am a stocky guy with very broad shoulders so anything smaller would probably make my shoulders uncomfortable. What is the best way to deflate this huge pad?

The V Lux (all klymit pads) actually deflate fast, has two air valves on each side at the top. I open both valves to let the air escape while stuffing my UQ/TQ then roll from bottom to get the remaining air out then fold into the stuff sack size and re-roll. No issues with getting the pad back into the stuff sack.

You'll get a flatter lay with a shorter pad. Issue is, though, the shorter pads are often only 20" wide. Klymit does make one that short and wide, but its not insulated. Not sure an uninsulated pad would be worth much more than summer insulation.

Inflated the pad to about half and was able to sleep great in my Skeeter Beater Pro and my Kelty cosmic sleeping bag. The low temp was only in the 60 s but did not get CBS or even chlly, so ept great. I opened both valves like xrayit mentioned, to deflate the pad. Then just folded the pad length ways and continued to rolling the air out. Took a little but but I think that did the trick. No problem with the Klymit pad going in its stuff sack now. I am very happy with my gear.

I own the Static V Luxe Insulated (red one) and have used it in my Dutch 11' single hammock and it works great. Kept me warm down to mid 30s and I haven't had a chance to try to take it down to lower temps.
