So humneso , spax 14 would be stronger than the recently suggested hex lags? I'm about to go pick up some material.

Great ideas, There is so much to learn before you really know what you want in a hammock.
How much can it hold I weigh 312 and wonder if the 2x4 in the wall will hold up
I've been hanging indoors for about a year DIY-style. I got into hammocking because I was tired of waking up all sweaty. I experimented with a few different types of sheets and rope/ratchet tie-down and found that I like non stretchy (non T-shirt style) king sized sheets (2, one on top of the other) with the ends gathered, Japanese fan style. I intend to get a Brazilian hammock soon. I experimented with a wool blanket between the sheets and with a fleece blanket over the sheets. A few days ago, I got a cheap electric blanket, throw sized, 6 heat levels. I got some clips and adjustable-length bungee cords from Home Depot and have been experimenting with the idea of an underquilt. I folded the corners of the head end before inserting them into the clips which seems to gather it around my shoulders pretty well. The foot end I just clipped to the corners of the blanket. I'm still experimenting with angles, placement, height, etc with this, my first underquilt.

Here's the hanging kit I used.

The cheap electric blanket experiment is going ok. Looks like cheap is the operative word as it's coming apart a little...I hope that doesn't mean I'll wake up engulfed in flames. Anyway, I found I like level 3 out of 6 as I got a little sweaty at level 4. So nice to not wear bulky fleece pajamas! So if I splurge for this family sized Brazilian http://www.seasidehammocks.com/FLORA...MOCK-p363.html would it make sense that I'd need a larger UQ, or just find where I'd sleep in it and adjust the little electric blanket to that position? Also, some say get as large as you can afford, but as a 6'-0" 170 lbs guy, is that overkill? $50 less gets me http://www.seasidehammocks.com/IRACE...E%29-p326.html and even less expensive http://www.novica.com/itemdetail/?pid=176824
Pillow Under Knees
For those who use hammocks as beds full-time, you may want to use a pillow to support your knees. This could alleviate knee hyper-extension, prove healthier in the long run, and increase comfort level.
Great simple advice, thanks!
