Can I make a suggestion that we plan the winter hang for Jan. 16-18/19?
I know not everyone gets the MLK holiday weekend free, but some do, and it's nice to have the extra
day off to decompress with family.......

and tell them about all the (mis)adventures in hammocking that went down at frog lake.

    regardless, i'll be there.

    OK folks..
I know that we will never be able to pick the perfect weekend... so here it is. The Tribe has spoken and I have heard more "likes" for the 23-25 Jan.
    LOCK IN THE DATE-
23-25 JANUARY 2015.. That will be the dates for the winter hang.
    Sorry Rip...
Looking forward to seeing everyone, lets make this an epic YETI HANG!

I would love to go to a group hang in the NW Oregon/SW Washington area. Unfortunately, I work every weekend. Nice for recreating without crowds...bad for recreating WITH groups. If anyone in the area plans some sort of mid-week get together, I would love to hear about it...If for some reason it works out that I can go, I will definitely be there....

Hey guys! First post and first (of many) questions.
How far in would the hike be? Would snow shoes be necessary?
I ask because I'm partially disabled and limited on how far I can hike.

    Mark (all)
The hike is 1 mile. It is an easy hike in, no real grade.
Snow shoes- well it all depends on the snow. If memory serves, Last year we really did not need the snow shoes, but in years past we have. I posted the average snow fall in an earlier post just so we can be prepared.
The trees are perfect for hammocks and the camp ground is always empty. Makes for a great place for a winter hang.
BTW- Welcome to the forum Mark... great people here that are willing to help you out. Just ask.

Thanks for the info! I'll have my UQ finished in a few weeks and other than needing some light rain pants and wet weather boots I'm ready to go for Winter!

    Welcome to the group!

I am sure you won't be the only one not wanting to make a major expedition. I am not so great on two feet right now, and I made the trip very easily, last week, granted no "White Oregon Rain" but I am accustom to snow, as long as there is no ice, the hike is very reasonable. Be sure to come, you will have lots of fun, each Hang I have attended has been different from the ones before, always a new adventure.

Ugh! I've been waiting for this hang as I was planning on going, but I'll be in Hawaii during those dates.
I hope you all have a great time and hopefully I can make it to the next one. I would be great to meet some of you while I'm living on the west coast.
