Help with a hanging and ground option

I'm starting to put my gear together for a trip I have coming up in Feb on a motorcycle. It's covering a lot of different territory. I think that there is going to be times where a hammock doesn't work. I also don't want to pass on cool campsites in search of trees that will be few and far inbetween in places.

My thinking so far is an inflatable pad for bottom insulation and padding on the ground. A rectangular tarp that I can pitch in the trees or on the ground using a stick or the motorcycle to hold it up.

Now the issue, I really don't like spiders or anything that bites. I am thinking something like the OR bug bivy. I think that I can mod it somehow to work as bug netting for a hammock.

I think that there is the potential for as many nights on the ground as in the hammock. I don't want to limit myself by making due with either.

Any thoughts or has anyone else can up with anything that will work.

Single 1.7 Blackbird is only 4 oz heavier and could do double duty.
Fess-up! You sleep on the ground when your hammock is hanging. Well, naps anyway.
    Trust nobody!

I tried the NeoAir in my Blackbird. Seemed to work okay. At 2 1/2 inches thick it should help with keeping the stiff joints off the ground, and it's light, packs flat/small, and seems warm enough.

I know that is an option, but setting up a hammock on the ground is a huge pain. Plus I don't want to wear a hole in the bottom.

I'm all about cowboy camping under the stars. There is just something about a place full of spiders and snakes that if they bite me it's pretty much worest case.
