How tight should it be when I set up? Should it sag when I lay in the hammock?
I connected it to the suspension by simply looping the suspension through the locked brommel. That'll work, right?

Not Banjo String tight, but close to it. Your ridge line should have measured 83% of your hammocks length. This keeps it tight while you are in it. What kind of suspension are you using?
Buckeye Bill
this is the vid I followed; really great tutorial.
This:
I attached both the hammock and the ridge line by a Lark's head in the suspension. The ridge line is exactly 83%, as everyone says it will explode if it's 82%, and probably burst into flame if it's 84%. :P
Oh, and I have nylon webbing and Dutch Clips (though I didn't have the Dutch Clips the last time I used the hammock, just the webbing).
from videos I have seen, the ridgeline should be able to move to about a 60 degree angle when rotated between your thumb and finger with the finger pulling down on the ridgeline and the thumb pressing up on the ridgeline. If that is not a good description take a look at WB's blackbird setup video, they will show you how to judge ridgeline tautness by feel using the above technique.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
Oh and GO NOLES!
My is string tite. you can play music on it. Its 1.9mm tech line. I guessed on the length.
Should I do something?
Mine is bass-string tight--a slightly floppy low D--when I'm in my sweet spot. I like it.
