While thinking about modifying my old skool, weighty Black Diamond trekking poles for use as a spreader bar for my bridge hammock, the specter of a broken trekking pole induced a click on the "Pause" button.
Even the smallest perceived stress can break a trekking pole, bringing a bridge hammocker to ground. That wouldn't be a serious problem for a short hike or the last night of a trip, but for a longer trip? Would that prospect nix the modification for you? Would you just take the spreader bars along? Can dual use go too far?
That's my two Canadian cents.
"Don't cry for me, Canada." As sung by Evita Copperone in a Canadian piggybank, regarding the shelving of their penny.
