Recently took the Blackbird out for a 4 day 53 mile hike around the Three Sisters in Central Oregon. This is why we spend hours getting tips and tricks on this site. After all it comes down to getting out there. And wow was this hike spectacular.

A few takeaways. As I am getting older, I have committed to lowering my pack weight. After months and months of weighing items and acquiring more light gear I was able to get my base weight to just over 10 pounds.
1. I really love my Elemental Horizons Kalais Pack. It worked great and I was surprised that I actually had about 15L of spare room after fully packed. I had come from a 70L pack and thought a 50L might be tight.
2. Instead of packing my top and bottom quilt and hammock in their stuff sacks I just placed them all inside a trash compactor bag together at the bottom of the pack. Saved some weight, kept dry incase of rain, and made set up and take down a snap.
3. In an effort to gain a few more ounces of weight loss I will replace my cinch buckles and go to whoopies for my suspension on the next trip. Anyone have experience with Dynaglide whoopies instead of Amsteel? I see Dutch has some Dynaglide for that purpose.
4. Cooking was light and expanded with the use of my packafeather xl stove and my dry bake kit from Batchstovez. Had peach cobbler, chocolate muffin, mixed berry muffin, blueberry muffin and garlic muffins at meals along with my excellent meals from Packit Gourmet.
Enjoy the summer. Next trip to the Jefferson Park area.
