More like $35 maybe $40, but still worth it. Cheap aluminum stakes and some mason line work as well. You can get Mason line, 4 Aluminum stakes, one of those mesh scrubbies all for around $10. Open the scrubby up for a cheap snakeskin. Best of all they come in all kinds of colors.

I used some scrap ripstop to make a new stuff sack for the tarp. I cut the logo off the old stuff sack and sewed it onto the new stuff sack as I like that logo.

gotta say, for anyone considering this rainfly.....just get it, even at it's full retail price. storm worthiness, should not be doubted too much here as there seem to be quite a few other rainflys out there that are smaller(stock Hennessy asym) and people stay dry. i've been in pretty torrential downpours with both the yukon and my HH asym and experienced a good dry sleep. i've actually found the yukons ridgeline too be longer than necessary but the extra is good and i imagine the weight savings to reduce it would be negligible.

My brother used his on a very wet trip. The problem he had was not from above, but from below. The rain was so hard, the splash got his hammock wet. He said the above coverage was fine, but he needed larger coverage so the splash could not reach him. He said if he would have vegetation under him, it probably would have been fine, but the heavy use area he was in was all hard packed dirt.

I have one of these from Woot as well. Its okay...definitely better than the 8x10 blue walmart special for sure but whats not? The sack sucks as noted. I wouldnt trust it in heavy rain or medium to light rain if much wind is involved. For me its to keep acorns, leaves and dew off me and for that it works just fine.

I dont want to muddy up this thread so I will post about another tarp worth looking at here...https://hammockforums.net/forum/show...86#post1612086

Hanging the hammock higher of the ground will also help;-)
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...
