    Texas Newbie

Greetings from Texas, from one fairly ashamed that I was in my 50-somethings before discovering the joys of hammocking. My wife and I used our new ENO single-nesters for the first time on a recent camping trip in Palo Duro Canyon in the TX panhandle...and we're hooked! Now I'm navigating the forums here to brainstorm ways to make our hammocks a more regular part of life. Looking forward to hanging out here (no pun intended ).

Don't worry too much. I'd given up on camping when I turned 50 having gotten tired of crawling in and out of tents just for an uncomfortable night's sleep. Found hammocks 8 years later and I'm back in the woods. Come on down to the Butt Bake hang:

Good chow, good company, and lotsa hammock stuff.

Welcome from DFW, I also got back to camping "pushing my 10th anniversary of my 39th birthday", in hammocks.
Like Sarge said, hit the Butt Bake, see lots of gear, over-eat, get lost, fall in the lake, hike out for more beer, set the forest on fi....no....that didn't happen...Really.

Howdy and welcome to the trees! … or there may or may not be trees where you are in Abilene so welcome to the stand if that fits better.

Thanx to all for the warm welcome. UncleMJM, good call on the relative sparseness of trees in our particular corner of the Lone Star State. We do have plenty of mesquites, which the Good Lord created specifically for the purpose of generating BBQ smoke--and as I've recently discovered, also for hanging hammocks. Huzzah!

I see you're in College Station. Am I safe in assuming you bleed maroon and white?
