Hello.
I am just getting started in the world of hanging hammocks.
I am also just starting out in backpacking.
After a hike of Old Rag in Shenandoah, I decided that I would hike the whole AT. I will need to do this in sections; however, I think that I can do it.
After researching the different shelter types, I finally decided on hammocks.
I have already ordered my Grand Trunk Ultralight Hammock and it is on it's way.
To go along with it, the ENO - Atlas Straps.
Once that order arrives, I will be ready to go out for the first of many overnight trips.
I have a 10X8 ground tarp that I will be using until I eventually buy the WB superfly. I decided on that one due to the size and the doors. I figure that on some of the weekend trips (or overnights) my daughters or wife would like to join me. By having the doors there, that could give them some privacy if they need it.
I also have an old backpack (still in good shape), and sleeping bag, and sleeping pad.
My daughter found an old sleeping bag in the attic, so that might become an under quilt project in the future.
I have enough to get me started down this long journey that I have ahead of me.
I just need to start getting out there
