A few things. Mostly their short length doesn't allow for much versatility. If you're trying to use wider trees or trees that are a bit far apart, you'll be out of luck. If weight is a concern, they are definitely on the heavy side. Additionally, ropes generally aren't great for trees. Adding a suspension system that includes tree straps allows you to spread the force around more.

I had the core of one of the ropes snap. No harm done at the time but I did swap out the suspension.

The overall length of the hammock is shorter than advertised and doesn't lend itself to full-time use. If you have one, you might buy other hammocks later but you'll likely not part with your GT.

They slip and stretch a bit causing abrasions to the rope. Only used them a couple of times and I wouldn't use them much more.

I own a double also and it is awesome for the price. I did swap the suspension for whoopies and tree hungers though.

The roped are just fine for adjustment, add more knots, you can also hook the GT Rope to your straps, I have used them in conjunction with my rings and straps.

Are the straps that come with the Grand Trunk Double adequate? I was thinking of buying Eno Atlas Straps and using those with the Grand Trunk Double, would that work?

    Thanks!
I have 3 Grand Trunk Doubles, mine, my wife's, my daughter or granddaughter when they come to visit, a single, another single for my youngest son (23) and a ultralight for my grand son (3). I have switched all the double to rings and straps for better fine tuning, All have adjustable ridge lines, I have found this better to fine tune going from inside the house to hanging outside hangs. We have spent many days/nights in them and all sleep real nice, in fact my grandson has slept in grandmas hammock all week long preferring it over his crib, (note the AC and fan make them a bit cold you will need a pad or blankets under you inside)
the straps are fine if you don't have rings/straps, if you need to take it up more add another knot, I have used them on hard trees just fine.
    Hope this helps.
