Lightbulb tiny modification tip for rain runoff

i haven't seen this tip anywhere yet so i'm going to post. i came across a tip to tie off paracord onto the hammock rope, below the tree webbing. let the paracord hang down 5 or 6 inches and if it rains, the water that runs down the webbing/ropes will take the paracord route instead of flowing the entire way to the end of your hammock. i haven't tried this yet but it makes sense to try. let me know if any of you have done this and if it makes a difference in the rain.

During really heavy rain it makes a big difference. Without the tie offs, you would be surprised how quickly those drips can get your hammock/sleeping bag soaking wet! Shug has some great videos on youtube that go over this, I think he calls them drip lines.

Guys make sure you tie off whatever type cord you use a few inches under your tarp. Otherwise you can still get runoff from the exposed suspension between your drip line and hammock.

I think everyone should use a drip line; this is an excellent video by the Ultimate Hang that shows why.

Most hardware like carabiners and cinch buckles you would think does the job to divert the water and prevent seepage, but water has a way of skipping past all that. Just make sure your drip line and any part of your suspension below the drip line, is under the tarp and isn't exposed to rain.

People around here often call them drip stops. Some suggest cotton shoelace, others suggest some kind of hardware like a carabiner or descending ring. I remember a couple of years ago someone suggested a milk bag tie which made many Americans ask "what's a milk bag?".

I had to look that up. That's kinda weird, why do you sell your milk in bags? what's wrong with plastic bottles/jugs?

I know what a milk bag is (for fallkniven: stays fresh longer, uses less plastic), grew up with them, but what is a milk bag tie??? Is it like a bread bag tie?

I heard just a plain old cotton string will do the trick.
