    Tarp Pole Mods in...trying out

My tarp pole mods are here! WHOOP WHOOP! Now, to give them a try. Ordered some mitten hooks as I believe I read they work great to use with these pole mods on my tarp. I already have pull outs, so we'll see once the mitten hooks get here.

Then I'll post some pics. My oldest daughter wants to borrow my hammock next Wed. so she may be the first to actually get to use the new pole mods.

Thanks Dutch for some great gear and fantastic customer service!

Ok pictures of the tarp pole mods. My oldest daughter used my hammock at a Webelos Adventure Camp, and is now hooked on hammocking and says she'll never sleep in a tent again! LOL
I'll try and get some better pics as I use it myself. This is a WBBB with a SF tarp. I used mitten hooks, and while they worked ok, they did "stretch" somewhat. So, Dutch, a new invention...make a double holed gadget one end to fit the tarp pole mod, and the other, I suppose to use zingit, or amsteel to tie to the tarp.

Just make yourself a short dogbone out of zing it or lash it and larkshead one end to the tarp puul out and loop the other over the end of the pole mod -- DONE no hardware needed

I agree with Zilla. There was a long thread on "mini - pole mod" several months ago with a lot of great ideas and one of the best because of its simplicity was the "dogbone" to panel pullouts. Basically just dyneema with locked Brummel loops (small loops) on each end. Many advantages but primary may be no plastic that can break. Splicing cord is very easy once you try, use youtube videos or www.L-36.com like a good sailor would.

Only needing short connectors, I use small zing it soft shackles (continuous loops would also work) and larks head them to the pole ends.

Another method that is adjustable depending on the steepness of the pitch on your tarp would be to use a loop of cordage attached to the tieout with that cord prussic-ed onto another piece of cord like in the video below (you can use the same method with hiker poles instead of regular "tent" poles) -
