    Pictures of Clark and Speer

Ok, got the stand put together and it was diffently unstable feeling. So we added shims to the back, front and sides. The stand works great with the two hammocks I have. I tried the Speer with Speer Tarp, then tried the Clark and Tarp. You can view the pic's in my gallary.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.

Here is what I had to do to hold the polls at a constant position so I could use a tarp.

I am no expert so you can assume I have no idea what I am talking about.

I am surprised that your tarp pulled the wood so much.

But isn't the same laws of physics at play here? Your suspension system is pulling the same way as your tarp.

The tarp is nicely pulled. Looks sharp.

I like the Everstart battery has an anchor.

I did mine tonight Warbonnet Blackbird with a Superfly. I will try to post some pics.

I went with the 10 foot middle I-beam and 8 foot vertical beams. I think it is best for the WB BB.

I shimmed one vertical beam from behind and got a nice snug fit. I did the other from the front and I could not get the same snug fit.

    Thanks Rev!

The tarp did not pull the wood.

When I strung the tarp up and tied it all off it was tight.

The issue was when I laid in the hammock, that was what pulled on the wood. When that happened then the tarp sagged.

I experienced the same pull and while I was lying in the hammock we just added more cedar shims. I changed hammocks from the Speer back to the Clark with the tarps and still had no more problems with the uprights pulling in. The only adjustments I had to make after all shims were in place I had to tighten both the hammock and tarp.

as far as the tarp getting loose or less tight due to the person getting into the hammock and the uprights shifting oh so slightly, would it help to add shockcord to the tarp ropes that tie to the uprights??? I've got shockcord tensioners on my guy lines and that's what they're for, to keep things tight. Mine are just looped right at the tarp tab that holds the guyline and then a clove hitch holds the shockcord ends to the guyline. I would think about a foot length of shockcord, doubled over and using the clove hitch would be pretty easy to add to each end of the tarp. And then removed when you're hanging in tree areas.

Good idea. I will have to try that also. I have them on my side tie outs but did not hing about putting them on my tarp ridge line.
