Continuous loop slippage through sewn end channel

I replaced the original hammock gear with Amsteel continuous loops at each end through the sewn end channel. What is the best method to prevent the continuous loops from becoming loose and sliding out of the sewn in channel when the hammock is getting stowed? Amsteel is so slippery that it does not stay tight or in the channel when not under pressure.

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. I think you're wrong about that. The coating is easily worn off and if you hang on the continuous loops the larkshead will get quite tight. I've never had one even move, well enough slip, after laying down in the hammock. You are using a larkshead knot on the continuous loop, aren't you?

All my gear is new and I am constantly watching videos and reading the forum to learn. Yes, I am using a Larkshead knot on the continuous loop. I didn't realize that Amsteel has a coating so that is probably the issue. I simply inserted a new continuous loop into the sewn in channel and hand tightened the knot... the knot has never been under the pressure of my body weight.
    Thanks for the education

It's still a good question though and here's why: I've been thinking about modifying at least one of my hammocks by undoing the lark's head and hanging BOTH ends of the continuous loop through the fixed eye of the whoopie sling. I'm thinking the "looseness" of the loop might give a little bit of the Redoleary "mini spreader bar" effect. See HERE if not familiar.

I hadn't thought about the continuous loop slipping into the channel while stowed. I suppose a mini carabiner around both loops would solve the problem.

Yeah no worries. Once you lay in it, you'll be surprised at how much tighter it gets and it will stay put as others have said. It's important to keep it in mind when you are trying determine the length of loop you want to use.
