Point taken. We'll try to select a destination early in the planning process. It's only that there's usually a bit of give and take on the details. A lot depends on who's expressing an interest in coming; there's paddlers that like to basecamp and others that like to trip, some like short days/portages and others want to try the Brent run any chance they get.
I've been trying to tailor trips that suit the majority of the group, although I'm still reminded from time to time that I once had a hang paddling uphill for the entire weekend. No one's perfect!

Lots of logistics to trip planning not to mention Summer is a busy time for most people so trying to come up with a time and a destination can be very challenging.

I do understand the challenges, but maybe discussing in open form on the forum might help.
Turn outs are variable. We've had over a dozen on some trips and a handful on others. If you look at old threads you can see we try to discuss the details well in advance but sometimes it seems things just come together at the last minute. I'd love to have a concrete time and destination determined right off the bat since it would be easier for me to arrange time off work but unfortunately it doesn't always go that way.

I will try to get involved earlier in future plans then. I am from Montreal, QC so distance is a key factor for me for trips in Ontario.
Hey gang,
Sorry I can’t make this one. I got back Tuesday from a 4 day trip to Wendigo/Allan/North Depot Lakes in northern Algonquin. Had lots of rain and between going back to work this week and getting my gear dried out and washed, I haven’t had a chance to really prep for this weekend. As well, I’m heading out to the Massasauga Park for 4 days next weekend and I need to finish some things around the house.
I was out on North Tea Lake for 4 days in early July. If you’re camping in the East Arm, do not stay on the eastern most island. It looks nice and there are 2 campsites, but I found cockroaches at the western campsite. I personally do not like them, but if you do, this is the place for you. It took me 4 hours to get to the island from the put in at Kawawaymog Lake. There was lots of canoe traffic on the Amable du Fond River and it made for slow going as you jockeyed for position around the many bends. I mention this because this is a holiday weekend so you may be in for more traffic on the river and the portages. Coming back, it took 5 hours battling a headwind most of the way.
I hope to make the next trip and see some old and new faces. I also wanted to thank Chard publicly for taking the lead on these trips. The organizing and details come from the group collectively, but Chard is usually the one who gets the ball rolling.

I've run into them when I was a ground dweller. I was paranoid about getting them in my house and washed all my laundry and sleeping bag at a laundromat . Even hung up my backpack and set up the t3nt outside for several days. Apparently they aren't cockroaches, but wood roaches and they don't reproduce indoors.
Have fun on the trip.

It would be great to have you out sometime. I can sympathize a little with regards to distance. Many of the EGL hangers come from Toronto which is not a bad drive to let say Algonquin but it's an additional couple of hours for me. Hope to meet you one day. Happy hanging.
To those going on this trip have a great time! I hope I can make a fall trip but it's up in the air at this point.
