They work. The nice thing is that one does not need access to either end of the line. I used several the other day securing a pool cover I was draining.
    YMMV

I usually put a stick in that last loop like a toggle to prevent accidental spilling... it's 100% locked with a stick in there

Yes! I replaced my use of the taut-line hitch with the Farrimond hitch because I no longer have to feed all the remaining line through the knot multiple times. It's so easy to tie/untie, and it even brought me back from using a CRL to separate lines on either end of the tarp.

I use it if I need or want to tie out my tarp to a sapling instead of a stake. Works great.

If you ever have the opportunity to hang with Phatom Grappler, he can show you how to tie this and many other knots.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

I think Farrimond hitch is one the coolest things you can do with rope! It's always fascinated me. I don't know why. Even the name sounds cool to me.

I totally agree. It sounds great, I think it's the alliteration. Farrimond Friction Hitch has the same mouth feel as Fast Fourier Transform. It's cool and sounds cool too!
