    Question Byer Ceara Hammock Stand

Will the Byer Ceara Hammock Stand work with Hennessy Backpacker Asym Side Zip with a Hex Fly? Stand has a hanging range of 124 - 129 in.

I want to camp where there are "pads" and hanging from trees is not permitted (even with Tree Huggers) and I want to camp at the beach where trees are too short or nonexistent.

    Here's the REI url: http://m.rei.com/product/867559/byer...-hammock-stand

I read the info about the Byer Vario ... 121" - 147" ... Would this be a better choice?

    Thank you for your help,

    Coosa

No responses? If I could buy a pipe stand, I would. Anyone got one for sale or would you make one for me?

Needs to fit in a Toyota Corolla & needs to be where I can pick it up near Baltimore, MD.

Will pay reasonable price (similar to price of Byer).

    Thanks, Coosa

Compare the length of the Byer Hammocks with the HH and you should have your answer.

coosa have you seen the turtlelady stand? they can be made with no hardware and there are also aluminum versions in the diy threads which you can brake down to smaller pieces.

The really good news is that the Ceara has the knobs on the side. Much better than the knobs facing upward on my Byer Vario.

It won't fit the 15' Gigante, wonder how the 11-12-footers would hang.

That UK handy Hammock works out at $184, but it comes with the hammock and fits into a small pack.

This one is a bit pricey but (for $20) you can get extenders. Only weighs 26 lbs. Ceara is (IIRC) 46 lbs.

Turtledog stand is what I made to solve exactly the problem you presented.

Cheap, super easy and fast to make yourself. All you need is a drill and some wrenches. Once I had the materials, it took me less than 30 minutes. Cost me all of about $20.

The hammock stands you linked to are not really made to be portable. They are heavy and bulky compared to a turtle dog stand. Putting one of these stands on top of your car is going to be fairly difficult. The turtle dog stand will pack up nicely on your car and doesn't weigh but maybe 3-4 lbs each.

I'm a fan of the turtledog, no mistake there. But 3 to 4 lbs each is a bit on the lightweight side I think, also unless you had a lot of the needed hardware laying around it would be hard to match the $20 price tag. Mine is build of slightly heavier wood and weigs somewhere around 60lbs I guess.
It will easily fit in my Volvo S80, fold down part of the backseat and just stick it in there with room to spare. That way it will travel with me this summer as I want to be sure to be able to hang each night, also on the stopovers I'm going to make(after a hard days travel I'm not going to fuss all that much over which campsite is perfect).

I received the handy hammock this week. I bought the one without a hammock, and am planning to hang my dangerbird to it. Very sturdy, and very very light. I'm impressed with how light it is

I plan on using this at a music festival. So I will have a hammock w/ bugnet, UQ, and tarp.

    I'd rather be hanging.
