You use a Hennessy Hammock & Hex Rainfly?
1- Is the frame long enough fot the larger Hex Rainfly?
2- How do you attach the Rainfly to the frame so it doesn't sag?

To attach a tarp, first of all, make sure the stand is about 18" longer than your tarp. Then attach the tarp with 1/8" shock cord to take up the slack as the stand flexes.

I just made 2 stands out of pipe based on the Speer diagram the price of pipe has gone up! used galvanized pipe 175.00 each to make fits in the bed of my truck 6'.5 bed (when broken down) works for camping without trees more for car camping or for me camporees with the scouts when i can stow it in the gear trailer. if i were to build another it would be longer just a bit short for longer hammocks,in my opinion..

Nice stand, let's see it on an ocean front deck with tarp in Ceará

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for considering the Ceara Stand.

This stand might get more attention here at Hammock Forums if Byer or someone else posted a photo of it with a tarp over a hammock. Even if it is on a deck or porch an optional tarp keeps the sun and rain off improving comfort and extending the life of the hammock. Obviously best to secure the stand to the deck with weights, cord, or something in case of strong wind. Being a Brazilian I like the name, Fortaleza, "Ceara" (aka Ceará, Brasil) has been in the World Cup lately, I'm a bit obsessed with Fotebol. Hey Brasil is about to win another game gotta go...

I want to camp where there are "pads" and hanging from trees is not permitted (even with Tree Huggers) and I want to camp at the beach where trees are too short or nonexistent.

    Here's the REI url: http://m.rei.com/product/867559/byer...-hammock-stand

I read the info about the Byer Vario ... 121" - 147" ... Would this be a better choice?

    Thank you for your help,

    Coosa

I would get the Vario. It's more versatile in that you can change the base length as well as the arm height. I have one and I'm glad I went with it over some cheaper ones I was looking at. I'm currently hanging a hammock at 13 feet from hanging tip to hanging tip, but the hammock is fairly large.

Worked great. I set up an adjustable ridgeline to take up the slack once inside that occurs from the stand flexing. Or if you have enough muscle, or someone to sit in the hammock while you tighten it you would be all set there too. This tarp is 134" long which seams to work perfectly with this 125" hammock on the stand. 20140630_115254_resized_1.jpg

The Ceara looks nice, Danny. You set it up well.

As a warning to folks trying to save a few bucks, I bought a standard stand for "backyard" hammocks. It's no good for camping hammocks. Not long enough or high enough. All I can use it for is extremely short hammocks like the GT Nano.

What's the difference between the Vario and the Ceara? Someone said the Ceara's base doesn't extend, but from Danny's pix it looks as if the shiny silver portion is the extending portion. Is the Vario still in production?

I am able to hang a Switchback quite easily. my 13' Brazilian does hang too low so I have knotted the strings of one end (put a large, Night-ize plastic S-hook so the knot can be untied). I haven't been able to hang a tarp because the pictures I have seen required a machine shop to weld extension bars.

The Ceara does not extend on the ends like the Vario but is set to 54" tall and the base extends out to 149". The Vario will go to 59" tall and extends to 160" when also at it's highest point. The Vario is still in production. We just got a bunch in on Monday.
