I am putting together a hammock for a friend in Alaska. I got her a Skeeter Beater Pro and we all know the hugger system is not adequate. Here is what I am outfitting for her

Yep, I made my first set (pre-thread-injector) that way. Climbing webbing (non-dyneema) stretches a little though, which can get annoying
The upside to sewn loops is less material, so less cost and less weight.
A Tape knot http://ozultimate.com/canyoning/knots/tape_knot/ is the best knot for webbing. In fact, any climbers site will tell you so and I have repelled off several high ledges using a tape knot and quick link as an anchor around a tree or rock.
Had to follow the link for the tape knot as I was thinking a water knot is what is recommended. Of course it turns out they are the same thing.
If you look at the result of the overhand loop he created, the knot is identical to a tape/water knot. I have used this method for the end loop on a set of my huggers and used them for years. Haven't tried the chain, but don't see why it would not be fine to use any of the loops.
