    HyperDRY down NOW AVAILABLE

I'm proud to announce to everyone that as of today we are now carrying HyperDRY 850 FP goose and 700 FP duck down in 3 ounce packs. We packed up the first lot over the weekend and have it ready for shipment in our next scheduled sale ending this Wednesday.

Since we started as DIYers and then became cottage vendors with Appalachian Hammock, our #1 goal with Ripstop by the Roll was to offer vendor quality, high-end materials to the DIY crowd at great prices. If you look around, you will see that HyperDRY is the exact down being used in the high-end gear being put out by some of our BEST cottage quilt vendors. To my knowledge, we are the first to offer HyperDRY by the ounce and we're excited to finally make it available to the DIYer.

Enjoy and stay tuned later this week as we hope to make some more exciting product announcements! Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.

    Good stuff.

I'm interested to see how this kind of down works out for people in the long run.

Out of curiosity, is the fill power measured before or after treatment?

Thanks. The quoted fill power is pre treatment. They claim that the treated down actually tends to have a higher fill power. There is a thread going over at backpackinglight where Allied is doing a Q and A. Useful stuff.

I'm sorry, I don't understand your pricing. It says $35/yd2. What does that mean?

Hey Doug if you're looking at the mobile site, I haven't updated that to make sense yet. The regular site should be good unless I overlooked something. Let me know.

Pricing is $38 for 3 ounces of 850fp and $20 for three ounces of 700fp.

That compares very favorably with the down that thru-hiker.com sells.

    900 FP Goose Down - $45 for 3 ounces
    800 FP Goose Down with Activ-Dri - $39 for 3 ounces

Thanks . Like everything else that I currently offer or will offer in the future, I try to price it relative to what's already out there while taking into consideration the relative worth of anything that sets it apart technically or something I'm doing differently than others to cut costs (i.e. bulk processing orders once or twice a week and working with manufacturers directly).

Unless there's a good reason to, I won't price below anyone else offering a similar product or the exact same product just to compete. The HyperDRY products are no exception. That's not to say that someone couldn't come along and take a different approach on pricing as that's just the nature of things. I've always thought you can bring more value by offering unique products, awesome customer service, and creative ways of doing things.

    Hi Kyle

what are the chances of your stocking the 900 FP HyperDry down any time soon? Also, any plans for lighter DWR breathable nylons, eg 10D nylons?

    Cheers!

Probably not in the near term just because I have some other things I'd like to bring online first. Are you looking to make quilts with the 10D?
