New Hanger and I would love to check this out !!! Do we contact the campground and reserve a site to hang then? I am hoping to go for the education factor of seeing products and knowledge of people to help me learn to hang

    Donna here...

All the sites/areas in the group camping area have been reserved by our group. If you want to stay over in the Family campground you will need to make a reservation, and are responsible for the cost.

If staying with the group, site and some meals are usually included. Family sites are extra- see Donna's post above. Raffle tickets are sold which help pay some of the costs.

Are all the sites/areas reserved by your group taken? if so, how does one go about joining MAHHA, and getting a spot for future events?

    Treebeard,
What Donna meant is that all of the group sites have been reserved so we have the entire group area to hang in. So there will be room for all. If you want to come, you will need to add your name to the sign in spread sheet when that gets posted so an accurate head count can be had. They ask that you purchase 1 raffle ticket to cover the cost of the group dinner and the camp site fees--thats it.
There is no MAHHA to join, it was just a name that was chosen in order to reserve a site a number of years ago--so there is no formal membership. There might be a secret handshake but I'm not saying anything............

The park does have traditional camping sites that can be reserved thru the park - They are great if you prefer not to be hanging with 100 of your HF friends, if you have a pet, would like the nicer restrooms/showers or just a little bit more privacy. Either way, A great time seems to be had by all

I'm seriously thinking about making the 7.5 hour drive down. I'm a complete newb. Haven't spent a night in my WBBB yet!!

What kind of temperatures do you expect?

Thank you jwright for clarifying my post! Re-reading it...I wasn't too clear. I knew what I meant...but anyone new to the hang would have been a bit confused!

Average norms are 65/43. If you go to your favorite weather site you can enter Gardeners PA or the zip code 17324 to get the local forecast a few days before the event.

You won't regret it. So many great people and so much to learn. Bring your camera and take pictures of all the different gear and hanging techniques. I always take close up pics of everything I want to try once I get back home. The Spring hang is one of the best events to see all the different styles of hammocks and what the DIYers are doing.
