How to attach Henessy to a Turtledog style stand?

I just ordered some of the 4 foot Military Surplus Aluminum poles on eBay, and I'm planning to make an another Aluminum version of the Turtledog Stand.

In the past, I've only used the Hennessy with the straps it came with on trees. I know how to hook it up that way, but I've never used anything else.

What would be the best way to attach it to a horizontal pole, without having to get a lot of hardware? I'm thinking that Wrapping the straps around the horizontal pole and then attaching the rope to the straps as I normally would should work. Anything else I need to consider?

    Thanks,
    Tony

no need for the straps, just do the "8" knot on the outside of the attachment point between the horizontal pole & the tri-pod

if you use an EYE BOLT for that attachment point, that should suffice, IMHO

I was planning to use cords for the attachment, rather than drilling holes to make an eye bolt.

    Would that still work?

And when you say an 8 Knot, do you mean a figure 8 knot, or is there something else?

    the magic HENNESSEE KNOT

understand the desire to not drill, creates a weak spot & requires appendages, which generate issues, unto themselves

sounds like you are off on the ROPE/KNOT quest

looking for your favorite knot that doesn't slip a/o turn loose...

    maybe a visit to:

    http://www.animatedknots.com/

    would be in order

as for the attachment points, you'll have to do some experimenting, to get the distance, between them, right for you
