If they are coming out with an SK90, wow. [...] There is no good reason to go to Vectran unless you have some on hand or catch it on sale. It is more expensive and has a little less UV resistance.

I think Gottifredi Maffioli was the first to offer cordage with SK90, and many of the other suppliers of high-performance yachting cordage are using it now. Honeywell is also improving, and now produces Spectra 2000.

Vectran also has inferior strength:weight compared to HMPE.

Kind of. I was thinking of alternatives to making a permanant attachment like he did, so in this case....I guess so. If so, I would use 1/8" min and use a diamond knot / lanyard knot. There are good suggestions and testing in the "revisited" loop shackle thread.

In reality, I read a lot of the WS posts, problems, complaints folks had and it was kind of a generic post that they were out there and easily within the capability of those making whoopie slings.

In the thread on loop shackles, there's a link to an Italian blog with some photos showing how to make one. The whipping shown might be a good addition to a whoopie sling to help the braid at the end of the bury. See the link in post #155.

I'm sure that there's been a post somewhere on the forum but I can't seem to readily get my eyes on the thread. So....here goes...Has anyone posted a How To thread on replacing a Hennessy Hammock suspension with a Whoopie Sling? If so will someone point me in that direction so that I can figure out how to replace my time consuming, pain in the ### original Hennessy suspension? Or, if that's not an option I saw something on YouTube about threading the original lines in a Whoopie Sling (I think) or maybe it's a complete different system. I'm a Newbie so be kind.

OK I just ordered a set of whoopie slings for a Hennessy conversion. Now what? What do I need to connect the Whoopie Sling to a tree hugger? A carabiner, a ring, dutch clip and a carabiner, etc., etc.? I know, I know everybody knows this but I'm a newbie so I have lots and lots of dumb questions

you can use a toggle and 6 foot huggers. Sew a loop in one or both ends of your hugger. Wrap hugger around tree. Put toggle through sewn loop in hugger or attach toggle via marlin spike hitch. Then simply throw whoppie loop over toggle and adjust your whoppie sling til its the right angle. That ez

You can use a biner to just attach to the loops of the hugger. You can also use a Dutch clip to attach the hugger around the tree, but there again i just pull it through its loop. So what I do is wrap teh hugger around the tree and pull it through its loop. Then I use a toggle of some sort and put it through teh hanging loop of the hugger. The Whoopie sling then attaches to the hugger with the toggle making it so it can't pull out. For a toggle I just use a stick I find on the ground. This way you don't have to buy anything or carry anything. If you like to carry stuff the biner on the loop is real easy.
