Yeah, I found out real quick just how slippery this was. The tucked double overhand loop requires a tail that is 3 times the diameter, but due to the slippery factor I have about an inch exposed. I will mark it though and be sure to watch close as I apply a real load the first few hangs.

    WS to fixed Strap

    Last night I ended up permanently attaching my Whoopie Sling to a 4 foot 1 inch strap. I used a descending ring on the end to attach the WS. It looks like this;

Dutch Clip >> 4 foot Strap >> Descending Ring >> Whoopie Sling >> (Through stuff sack) >> Hammock (HH)

Part of the attraction for me is quick setup and easy adjustability. This setup gives me one piece to have to deal with, no extra pieces. Since I use a BB stuff sack that is attached to the suspension I simply tuck the bottom end of the suspension in the top of the sack. When I am ready to deploy I attach the bottom suspension to the support and pull the other suspension to the other tree.

I plan to carry a small webbing splice with me just in case I run into a large tree that the strap does not fit around.

Plus, my son thought the WS was cool, but didn’t like the Marlin Spike.

    I haven’t fully tested yet.

Avoiding knots altogether is an attraction for some folks, particularly so that you can keep your gloves on in bitter cold.
(Not sure what passes for bitter cold in Georgia though...)
This solution certainly ought to work and gives you no-knot flexibility.

Thanks for the sharing and the great video ... (A visual learner, here.)

Can you save weight by not using the rings?

could go through the webbing loop, no rings, but I'd be leery
of that. Adjusting the WS under tension is going to be sawing
the line under tension against the webbing. Can't be good.

I agree with Grizz, I could save weight by hooking directly to the webbing, but I think that would limit the life of the strap. I am sure I could find a better connector, but I used what I have on hand, and I am cheap.

Added a ring to my whoopie and put a continual look larkshead to my whipping ... not much weight. Had water running down the line and I do not like drip-strings. I am happy now.

    ))) dutch clip ... tree strap ..... marlinspike/toggle..... whoopie sling ...... ring(KEEPS THE WATER OUT!!!) ..... continual loop ...... hammock ..... me.)))))))

    Sleep better.
    No drips.
