TurtleDog stand with PVC ridge pole

Hi, people.
Does anyone have any experience using PVC as a ridge pole material? Will it bow and snap? Can I put a joint in the middle and make a collapsing span?

It's pretty flexible stuff, and especially in the sizes you'll need, heavy. There are better choices.

Haven't tried it personally, but I do use a Turtlelady stand. Mine has the military aluminum poles - and even those flex a bit. I wouldn't go that route. Sticking with a fence top rail or something similar is a much safer bet.

My "turtlelady" bamboo stand is all bamboo except for a 18 inch piece of PVC that is the connector sleeve for the 2 pieces that make up the ridge pole...very light weight and easy to transport to camping areas where there are no trees!

I'm about to start a stand and I'm going to try using a big piece of the black ABS piping that I have laying around. It's 2.5" or 3" in diameter, so I'm hoping that it won't be bending too much.

A couple of fence top rails are around $25 at the home depot or lowes, they will work. Pvc probably won't work very well and you could get hurt, plus the expense of trying. Just my 2 cents.

Agree, Skip the PVC. It will probably flex and break. Dont get hurt.
