Kickstarter: The worlds first sleeping bag hammock.

    Hey all.
I always try support all things hammock I found this this on Kickstarter.
"The worlds first sleeping bag hammock"
$70 during campaign $130 post campaign.
Not much info on the project like you'd expect for such an idea.
Dimensions of the bag are 180x75cm. No temp rating either. But it's synthetic 220gsm fill. No mention of hammock dimensions.
Fabric is PU coating 170t poly.
No weight of setup or limits mentioned. Not sure if the bag will be compressed at all.

Just thought I'd bring it here for discussion.
I personally don't like the design but hey, a Kickstarter campaign just like this one brought me here, and keeps me outdoors and off the ground. I've thrown at least $1k at vendors and forum members over the past year supporting my habits.

I wonder how many will buy this product as a gateway hammock then end up in a Thunderbird?

    What are your thoughts?

I don't think this will work from their design (if I am seeing it properly). The difficult thing with insulation and a hammock seems to be the under insulation, and not the insulation on top. They have basically sewn a top quilt to a hammock. I wouldn't want that because I would think that would limit your movement to go on an angle and play till you find the sweet spot. If you watch the video 1:20 in, she is bananaed in that hammock pretty good. At first, I thought this was going to be a sleeping bag that hangs, with the hammock between the layers of insulation, but it doesn't appear to do that. Not trying to be the wet blanket, but I think this is finding a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist, while failing to address the one that is clearly there when switching to hammocks, (getting maximum under insulation, while maintaining the ability to vent, without it being temperamental).
Also, and I'm not trying to assassinate their project, but it doesn't look like the hammock or sleeping bag are pieces of gear I would want to invest into strongly. Both seem to be things that you could get under the $20 range in wally world. Of course, I have not seen this up close, so I could be terribly wrong on the design, the effectiveness, and the materials used. This is just my impression from what I can see. Better details may put me in my place.
There may be a solution down the road with design tweaking and superior materials, but for my money, this is not it.

I saw this the other day. It's 2.5lbs and rated at 55°. It comes with nylon cord to wrap around the tree. That would need to go. It compacts to 16x8x8 which is huge considering the 55° limit.

Getting a diagonal lay seems to be problematic as well.

Cheers Nhott, info I couldn't find. I'm a useless skim reader. No straps? I've donated a buck can't donate to something that'll probably cause hammockers to be banned from sites.

Then cancel the pledge and give that as your reason... Creators will see it and maybe change it

As long as I've got a buck in it I have a voice. I'll question them about it.
I won't cancel my pledge unless as they change it. They will I'm sure they're just oblivious to the hammock forums education.

They invented the Speer Pea Pod on the half shell

Ditto on issues like no under insulation which means CBS even during warm weather.

I also agree that it appears to be nothing more than a TQ sewed onto the hammock

Once again, a hammock with that cheap heavy rope ends and steel binners.

    Good idea but issues.

Yes, and couple with the lack of research and poor design, I think that what they're trying to sell is mostly the cute couple thing.

    This has me worried:
