Hammock camping with dogs - What do you do?

How do you guys sleep, if and when you bring dogs hammock camping?

I tried sleeping with my dog in my hammock and it was really uncomfortable He is a dachshound, so not very big. Him sleeping on the ground next to the hammock is not really an option (worried he will run off during the night cause he gets spooked or starts chasing something. Also bit concerned about the cold.

My dogs each have their own pack. They carry their own water, food, and a 20 foot long plastic shielded wire cable that goes around a tree 15 feet away from the hammock ends. This let's them get under the tarp without fouling the guy lines while giving them some freedom of movement. They also carry their own ground cloth so they have something to curl up on. Scout The Wonder Dog prefers wallering out a little spot of his own away from the hammock unless it rains, while Lil Bit, his youthful companion, likes being under the hammock.

Buddy is a smallish size Cocker Spaniel and only sleeps in the hammock when he's really cold. When he does sleep in the hammock he lays beside me so we both have some room. His normal sleeping spot is beside my hammock on a ccf pad and his sleeping bag. I use a biner and clip his retractable leash to the tarp ridge line so he has some freedom of movement but is restricted as to how far he can go.
