Blackbird to Ridgerunner ratio

Depends on the person. I'm 6'-5", so it was a little difficult to lay fetal in my RidgeRunner.

These are my top two hammocks as well.

Big +1 on the fetal position. Side sleeping is fine, but the lack of a really good fetal sleeping position (and the need for a wider tarp setup) are the two reasons I sometimes use my XLC instead of the RR.

The general consensus (and my personal experience) is that the lay is much flatter in the RR. That - and the super easy quilt or pad setup - are part of its greatness.

Shoulder room is fine for me - and is better than other bridge hammocks. Depends on your shoulder width, though. I'm not a super wide-shouldered guy, so I can only speak for myself.

I went back to a Blackbird, though, because it was just overall a better hammock for me. Especially when the XLC came out, that hammock had everything I wanted. Being cradled by a gathered end hammock is just so nice, too.

Im almost a foot shorter than you, so maybe it will be different for me. I'm predominantly a side sleeper so I'm interested in the lay. Oh yeah, that "being cradled" feeling is the comfort I always look forward to! Especially with a nice topquilt...
