    I experimented with it, and found adding a foot box to be a much better solution.

    The knotty mode has the added benefit of allowing entry/exit without stressing the sides too much.

    An advantage of a Knotty mod is that it allows entry from either side of the hammock, as well as the ability to sleep on either diagonal and switch during the night.
