    Bug Net Questions

My son just got a Dream Hammock Dangerbird and a Wilderness Logics Bugnet. The hammock has the cinch buckle suspension. I'd like to ask a few logistics questions as we both are new (I have an integrated bug net):
    1. Do you all that have separate bug nets, do you install remove the bug net each time you set-up the hammock or do you leave the bug net 'on the hammock' and pack all in one bag. My concern is damaging the bug nut with the cinch buckles.
    2. If you do leave the bug net on the hammock, any suggestions on best way to install the underquilt? Do you just learn an efficient way to crawl inside the bug net and hook it up?
    3. If you remove each time, is there an optimum way to use the cinch buckle straps (different connection)? He's using the "standard cinch buckle" (larks head to the hammock and then a buckle to secure around the tree). When you do this you have a long strap to feed through the bug net? Is there a move convenient way? I thought about removing the cinch buckles and using the Atlas Straps and then you would only need to feed the continuous loop trough the bug net. He's 12 and the Atlas straps seem like they would be easy for him to use.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts/suggestions/recommendations.

All of this goes into a 30 L Granite Gear compression sack.
The trick to packing the cinch buckles is to leave the buckles laying flat at the top when you stuff it. Mark the head end and set that up first, then grab the foot end and walk back to the anchor tree. It's a lot like packing a spinnacker. I leave mine completely set up except for packing my TQ separately because it's a 0* quilt and the large amount of loft makes the single bag pack too clumsy. My entire rig fits into a Granite Gear 60L pack and weighs in at 28# for a 4 day hike.

I always pack my bugnet separately.

There are about a bazillion (well, maybe not a bazillion) hammock campers and we ALL do things differently! No kidding. It's a good idea to ask around, but best to try out things yourself in the back yard.

I don't have a cinch buckle setup, but I guess I would use a bug net that draped over the ridge line, cinched tight around the suspension, snapped closed along the ends, and had some shock cord along the bottom.

I use a daisy-chain suspension system and a separate bugnet. I always pack them away separately because I use the modularity to set up only what I need and bugs aren't always a problem when I hang.

Don't use the cinch straps but my hammock, bugnet, UQ are left as a single unit and packed together. Once the SLS (single line suspension) and tarp are up the set is pulled out and attached to the SLS with 2 soft shackles. There is no time between winters in Florida and summers in Maine that I don't need a bugnet.

I have a separate bugnet. I set up my hammock at home and put top quilt, under quilt, inflatable pillow (deflated), ridgeline bag, and netting around the hammock. I then stuff it all together into a 20L dry bag.
I keep it all together as I move from camp to camp on a hiking trip. When I get home, I dismantle it all, clean & store each item separately.

My next hammock will have convertible bugnet. I feel closed in at times.

If backpacking to different locations each day I leave the bug net attached. I really like the Dutch whoopie hook system which does not leave any metal parts attached to the hammock so I do not have to worry about any damage done to the hammock or the bug net. I personally would steer clear of the ENO straps. My bug net is a Fronkey style with out the shock cord in the bottom so it just hangs loose and I can easily get under to hook up UQ.
