Footbox end pattern pieces
The end of the closed footbox is a black and white "Brown Goose" pattern that tapers a bit.
The finished outer face of the end of the footbox.
I'll never do a tapered and pieced-together pattern again..
This is the top of the top quilt
The blue and red are some old 1.6 or 1.7 oz/sqyd ripstop nylon that I had lying around. There are 149 white 1 1/4" tall by 2" long baffles in the body of the quilt and another four in the footbox end.
Inner Layer
Here I was marking where all of the baffles needed to be sewn on the white inner layer of the body.
All of the baffles are done!
After a long process, the thing is close to done. I was originally going to build the quilt as a "continuous footbox" so down could migrate as needed. Just before taking this shot, I ripped the seam, sewed it and filled it as a separate piece.
Filled and finished
With about 185 grams (6.5 oz) of down and more hours than I should have spent, my summer quilt is done. The "Flying Geese" central pattern and "Brown Geese" pattern at the foot really make it mine.
I took a nap in it today with my summer underquilt (3/4 length 36"x48" with 6 oz. of down) in about 50º temps... yes, it's a high of 52º today.. and decided I might have to open up a corner to inject another ounce of down sometime. Either that, or I wear socks :P
