UQ and TQ - best time to buy?

I am looking to buy both at the same time for the coming winter. I would like to get from the same vendor hopefully while a sale is going on.

Are there normally any big days where sales will happen or is it random for the most part? I have the vendors I want to buy from on facebook and stuff to catch the deals im hoping.

    Any thoughts?

Today. Buy them today and don't look back. Sales from some cottage vendors pop up but usually for Black Friday or other popular times in the year, otherwise referred to as "holidays."

There are a few vendors here (at least one) that does some kind of 5% discount/rebate if you order a top and bottom quilt. Sorry that I don't recall which, specifically, but someone will come along and correct me - or you can shop around: IIRC, on the home page of the vendor there is a note about the % discount.

    edit: Here's one: http://www.undergroundquilts.com/

Yup! If you need it now or soon, get it and enjoy it. 5 years later when you've gotten a ton of use of out them, you won't worry about that $50 you "lost" by not waiting for a sale.

I am ALWAYS on a budget.

That said, I'm like you in that I much prefer a sale to paying full price for something. Used gear is generally well kept, and a viable option for a slight discount.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

Since you are looking for winter gear, I would cruise the For Sales forum and look for some great deals. If that does not pan out Hammock Gear has a sale in the fall (that is when I bought my 0° Incubator). Arrowhead Equipment had an awesome sale this past fall that I now wish I had taken advantage of. I am sure many of the other cottage vendors on this site also have sales once "camping" season is over. Good luck.

    Cheers

Sign up for all their newsletters. Don't forget Enlightened Equipment, JRB Wilderness Logics and Warbonnet do down quilts as well.

I am in this category as well. I almost never pay X dollars for an item when I know it has been (and will be again) on sale for something less than X. my wife says I am "cheap" but I have always preferred the terms "frugal" or "wise". we enjoy a spirited debate from time to time over the semantics of the issue. afterwards, to make up I will take her out to an early bird special or anywhere that is currently running a coupon.

AHE just advertised a random sale. Keep an eye on the various vendors forums. Call and chat with the various vendors and ask for a package deal. Check out the FS forum here. the only problem (I see) with the black Friday sales is that you will miss a good chunk of prime camping weather by doing so.

We do offer a 5% discount if you buy them both together...also I see you have a Dream Hammock...we offer as well Pack Hook Mods that are specifically designed to work with those hammocks.

Hope that helps...good luck with your decision
