Hammock equipment storage - temps a concern?

Wife's told me I have to organize my stuff. I don't have a lot of room to work with, but I do have an attic and a detatched garage. Neither one is climate controled, so they'll see 100+ temps in summer and the lows got in the single digits last winter. Putting expensige gear in a non-climate controlled area worries me, I'm trying to figure out what can be OK in those temps vs what needs to be stored inside.

Are silnylon or coated polyester affected by heat/cold? What about synthetic webbing/ropes like amsteel and tree straps? There's a clothing bar in the attic that I could hang underquilts, topquilts, sleeping bags, backpacks from, but not sure if the temps will bother them any. I have questions about all mannor of campng gear, but wanted to mainly ask about hammock equipment. How are you guys with limited storage space handeling your storage needs?

I don't know about quilts but coated polyester tarps will delaminate in the heat

hope you can at least keep your quilts indoors...Humidity may also a factor in non-climate-controlled spaces.

i would get worried about mildew in a humid enviroment.

My solution was to get one of the giant plastic tubs with a lid on it. I lay my backpack in the bottom, followed by my stuffed and bulky gear (hammock, tarp, stove, tools (in scabbards/sheaths), etc). This barely takes up any room in the box and I put my sleeping bag (unstuffed) in there. While hanging is preferable, I am under the impression that a loose bundle like that is good for it as well.

The end result is one large tub that you can shove in a climate controlled space that you wouldn't normally get to put a bunch of barely organized stuff in.

The sleeping bags and my KAQ underquilt are going under a bed, so those will be in a climate controlled space. My wife wants me to separate my stuff into "tiers" meaning I have tier1 stuff I use all the time on every trip, tier2 stuff which is trip dependent, tier for spares/extras, and finally car camping stuff.

It's not a problem to keep the tier1 stuff in the house, and her logic makes sense in that it'll be easier to collect and pack for a trip vs looking for gear like an easter egg hunt every trip (isn't that part of the fun?!?!) and maybe keep tier 2 stuff and lower in the attic or garage.

Someone mentioned mildew, what gear is at risk for mildew?

pretty much anything fabric. i got it on one of my tarps once. set it up and washed it off w/ a sponge and water with a tiny bit of lemon juice.

And I'm female...lol.

Given that I have no one to corral me into this stuff, I chose a platform bed (DIY) and use the entire double bed space inside it for gear storage. Well, except for my quilts which are hung in the other end of the clothes closet.
