I love this.
Because of a lack of space in my two bedroom apartment, I've also resorted to the large Rubbermaid containers (three, stored in the second room). Each is tiered, with the heaviest items on the bottom. Quilts are hung from the master bedroom closet ceiling in large, mesh laundry bags. Inflatable pads are stored under the bed.
Gear is expensive. Much of it we should only have to buy once, or once in a great while...unless its life is tragically cut short from being out there in the shed.
Come on fellas - there's gotta be a few anecdotes worthy of evidence!
Lol you should see my kitchen... I too have a small 2 bedroom apt, half the kitchen is a shop, complete with a 6 foot tall tool chest, work bench, shop lights and a vice.. We just recently found a 3 bedroom house, the last straw for the misses was the miter saw on kitchen table lol, oh man was she mad when I was using her hoover to suck up sawdust lol...
I have kept all my gear in my attic in Charlotte NC for 4 years now and haven't had any issue. Everything is kept in plastic totes and I put silica gel packets in the tub with my hammock to keep the humidity partially controlled in the summer.

I live in an RV and ALL my stuff goes into a climate controlled storage unit. I have other stuff in there as well that needs a controlled climate such as Mineral Spirits and MAPP gas and various epoxies I use for golf club repair and assembly. Other stuff like my clothing I store in appropriate boxes under my bed or in my closet.
Remember...no matter where you go...there you are.
