Some shock cords I've had for years look like new with little or no stretch issues and others look like they've been abused and are ineffective and have been replaced. The stretch does diminish with time but more tension solves that; for me anyway.
I also believe that care and storage play a role in the life of shock cord. But on something like a Yeti quilt, with a fixed suspension, how many people tighten the shock cord when it doesnt seem to snug up. I usually see a plethora of advise when these questions are posted, but dont always see that as something that is suggested.
